Search "things to do near me" after 50 and most results assume you're willing to cross the city for a good evening. We don't think that's true anymore, and it's the whole idea behind how Marzi runs. Somewhere between your 40s and 50s, a good evening stops being worth an hour each way in traffic. What matters more is a place close enough to actually get to on a Tuesday, with people you'll see again next month, not just once.
That's the case this page makes, before it points you to Mumbai or Bangalore specifically.
Why Local Beats Far After 50
Start with the traffic. In both Bangalore and Mumbai, a 45-minute drive across town can easily become 90 minutes at the wrong hour, and that's before you've factored in getting home again. An evening that should take two hours can quietly eat four, and most people simply stop bothering once that math sets in.
Then there's energy. In your 20s, a long commute for a good night out barely registers. Later on, that same commute is often the deciding factor in whether you go at all, not because the event isn't appealing, but because getting there and back has become tiring in its own right.
And then there's the part that actually builds friendships: repetition. A single great evening across town is a nice memory. A decent evening five minutes from home, one you can actually get to twice a month, is how you end up with people you genuinely know. For most people, proximity isn't a lesser version of a good social life after 50; it's what makes one possible at all.
In Mumbai: Andheri, Santacruz–Khar and Thane
Right now, Marzi runs events across four pockets of Mumbai: Andheri East, Andheri West, Santacruz–Khar, and Thane. Andheri remains our most established base, but Thane deserves its own mention; it's home to one of the largest pools of people in our event plan, and we now have events on the ground to match that demand rather than just watching from a distance.
If you're in or near any of these areas, our Mumbai hub has the current listings and specific venues.
In Bangalore: Seven Zones, One City
Bangalore's a big enough city that "things to do in Bangalore" isn't really a single answer; it depends on which part of it you live in. Marzi currently runs events across seven zones: Indiranagar–Central, Koramangala–Jayanagar, HSR–JP Nagar, Whitefield–Marathahalli, New BEL Road, Sadashiv Nagar, and Hebbal–Manyata.
Indiranagar–Central and Koramangala–Jayanagar tend to have the most frequent evening services, given their central locations. HSR–JP Nagar and Whitefield–Marathahalli cover the city's tech-corridor pockets, where a lot of our regulars live without wanting to drive into the centre for a Tuesday evening. New BEL Road, Sadashiv Nagar and Hebbal–Manyata round out the north, an area that's historically been underserved by this kind of thing.
Full listings by zone are on our Bangalore hub.
